“From 2022, I was connected to the Kanyuthe Irrigation Project, funded by the World Bank. I shifted from 0.5 acres to 1 acre and since then I have managed to earn over KES 1 million. Compared to where I started in 2011 using rain-fed farming, my yields have significantly increased. Through irrigation, I have bought my own car, built my house, and educated my children — one in high school and another in a private primary school. NAVCDP has given us new farming tactics, and through them I have achieved all this.

“The members came to our church and told us about the SACCO. I visited their offices and joined. I was saving KES 500, KES 800, and sometimes KES 1,000. After 8 months, I wanted to add cereals to my business, so I decided to get a loan. I had saved KES 10,000 and received a loan of KES 20,000, which I used to expand into cereals. I plan to repay the loan in the next two months and apply for another loan to buy an automated machine for dispensing and selling cooking oil and to start selling animal feeds.”
