What is NAVCDP
The National Agricultural Value Chain Development Project (NAVCDP) is a
Government of Kenya (GoK) project that is implemented through the Ministry of
Agriculture and Livestock Development, State Department for Crop
Development with funding support from the World Bank and Co-finding through Counterpart funding by Government of Kenya and participating counties.
What is the objective of project?
To increase market participation and value addition for targeted farmers in selected value chains in project areas.
Where is NAVCDP being implemented
NAVCDP is being implemented in the following areas:
- Coast – Kwale, Kilifi, Tana River, Taita Taveta.
- Eastern – Makueni, Kitui, Machakos, Embu, Meru, Tharak-Nithi.
- Central – Kirinyaga, Murang’a, Kiambu, Nyeri, Nyandarua.
- Rift Valley – Narok, Kajiado, Nakuru, Nandi, Trans-Nzoia, Uasin Gishu, Bomet, Kericho.
- Western – Bungoma, Vihiga, Kakamega, Busia.
- Nyanza – Kisii, Nyamira, MIgori, Homabay, Kisumu, Siaya.

Who is Financing NAVCDP activities
NAVCDP is financed through a loan from the World Bank and funding from GOK and
County Governments (Counterpart funding) and matching grants from the
community organization i.e. Producer Organizations
How do I benefit from NAVCDP as a farmer?
By joining a Common Interest Group (CIG) or a Vulnerable Marginalized Group
(VMG). The CIGs/VMGs will federate into a Producer Organization (PO) that has a
prioritized value chain (VC) where capacity will be built to improve the productivity of
a prioritize Value Chain and creation of market linkage for the same, micro-projects
and multi community projects will be implemented for the prioritized VCs.
